Eye Associates Doctors of Don Mills

      Dr. Nish Rajani

Dr Nish Eye Associates of Don MillsCompleted his undergraduate studies at the University of New Brunswick majoring in biology. He obtained his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 1995 where he was the recipient of the KW Optical Company Award for his academic performance.

During his studies, Dr. Rajani completed an externship in ocular diseases and therapeutics at the Vitreo-Retinal Foundation, an eye hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Upon graduation from the University of Waterloo, Dr. Rajani entered private optometry practice in Toronto. Dr. Rajani has been associated with a group ophthalmology practice (Drs. Herzig and Tanzer), where he was responsible for the medical co-management of ocular disease, and pre- and post-operative cataract and refractive surgery cases. He was a staff optometrist and chairman of the advisory board at the Toronto Laser Sight Centre and Herzig Eye Institute. He was also a charter director of Custom LASIK Incorporated (A TLC Company) which is consider the world's most advanced laser eye centre.

He has lectured extensively in Canada and the United States in the areas of contacts lenses, laser vision correction, pathology and practise management. He has been a clinical and business consultant to various leading ophthalmic and pharmaceutical companies including Pfizer, Ciba/Novartis, Alcon Labs Incorporated, Humphrey Instruments, and TLC Laser Eyes Centres and is one of only eleven North American optometrists selected to be on the prestigious Allergan Global Speakers Forum. Dr. Rajani has appeared on Canada AM, Global TV, VR Land News, Breakfast Televison, CFTO News, 680 News, Humble and Fred and in The Toronto Star, Metro News, Review of Optometry, Optometric Management, Eyecare Visionary, Contact Lens Spectrum and Chatelaine.

Dr. Rajani was an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario. He has been a member of the College's discipline committee and currently serves on the Association's education, legislative, therapeutic and political action committees.

His primary areas of interest include laser vision correction, contact lenses and ocular disease. He has a special interest in diabetic and other retinal disease.

He lives in Toronto and enjoys golfing, skiing, reading and travelling in his spare time.




    Dr. Karen Cobean

Karen Kobean Eye Associates Of Don MillsDr. Karen Cobean began her undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo in 1989 at which time she was awarded several entrance scholarships, the Canadian Federation of University Women's Club Scholarship. She graduated with honors from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry and was the recipient of the prestigious Cole Award for clinical excellence and the Bausch and Lomb Award for proficiency in the area of contact lenses.

As part of her Doctor of Optometry degree, Dr. Cobean was an intern at an eye hospital in the United States where she was exposed to all aspects of specialized eye care. She also completed a clinical rotation in family eye health and vision care at a multi-doctor Canadian practice.

Dr. Cobean began her professional career at the North Bay Eye Clinic in association with Drs. Kenneth Kesty and Cynthia Bullen, ophthalmologists. Here, she participated in all aspects of primary and therapeutic eye care including the medical co-management of ocular diseases, pre- and post-operative patient care, contact lenses and comprehensive eye health and vision examinations.

She has worked as an associate in the group ophthalmology practice of Drs. Tanzer Gray and Rathee and has been a consultant optometrist at the Herzig Eye Institute. In the fall of 1998, Dr. Cobean became a partner at Eye Associates of Don Mills and has used her education, experience, and excellent clinical skills to provide her patients with the state of the art eye care.

Dr. Cobean's particular areas of interest are pediatrics, cataract and refractive surgery, diabetic eye disease and contact lenses. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists and the College of Optometrists of Ontario.

Drs. Rajani and Cobean have evolved extensive working relationships with various world famous surgical specialists in all areas pertaining to eye care. We work with teaching hospitals in the areas of vitreoretinal disease and surgery, medical and surgical management of glaucoma and corneal disease and transplants.

Community Involvement

Eye Associates of Don Mills and its doctors are very active in our community. Dr. Rajani is a governor on the North York General Hospital Foundation.

Introducing Dr. Nadeau:

Dr. Nadeau Originally from Kitchener-Waterloo, Dr. Nadeau completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Waterloo in Biomedical Sciences.

Dr. Nadeau completed her optometry degree at The New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. Through her training she completed externships at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Manchester, NH; the Vision Institute of Canada in Toronto; South End Community Health Center in Boston; the New England Eye Institute binocular vision department in Boston; as well as many schools and nursing homes in the Boston area through a mobile clinic.

She is also completed a residency in Primary Care with a subspecialty in Ocular Disease at NOVA Southeastern University College of Optometry in Fort Lauderdale, FL where she gained extensive experience in therapeutic treatment and management of eye disease. She was also able to obtain experience in the areas of glaucoma, oculoplastics, cataract and corneal surgeries, retinal conditions, and neuroophthalmology.

Dr. Nadeau has been involved in many volunteer actions including working in a homeless shelter eye clinic, fundraising for VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity), organizing and participating in a VOSH mission trip to an impoverished region of the Dominican Republic, and participating in many Lion’s Club and Special Olympics vision screenings.

Dr. Nadeau is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.

Dr. Nadeau is looking forward to being part of a full spectrum practice that includes therapeutic treatment of red eye and other ocular conditions, management of ocular diseases, contact lens fitting, children’s eye exams and dispensing glasses.
